Confirmation
Confirmation is a time to increase and deepen the grace one receives at Baptism. Confirmation is the sacrament of the Holy Spirit, which is called upon to strengthen the candidates bond with the Church and its mission. The congregation, pastor, and the bishop ask for God to send upon the candidates the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit to empower them to become stronger in their faith.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is received in the spring of the year. Candidates are expected to have participated in classes from an early age to be fully prepared to enter this time of seeking. There are many requirements and expectations for our Diocese and parish for candidates wishing to receive Confirmation.

While preparation for this sacrament begins at the time of baptism, the more intense and immediate preparation will take place in Grades Ten and Eleven. The entire parish has an important role to play, especially in the final year (Gr. 11) of preparation for Confirmation, acting as mentors, role models, teachers, and witnesses to a lived faith! The candidates will be sharing faith with their sponsors throughout the year, and on multiple occasions will gather with the Confirmation candidates from all our Area Parishes. They will also come before the assembly at Mass during the year as they ritualize their movement from one stage of their journey of faith to the next. Candidates will be “Featured” in the Church entry on weekends throughout the year. All parishioners are encouraged to become acquainted with these young people, to pray for them and to warmly welcome them into fuller participation in the life of the Church.
